Both leadership and management are both use interchangeably and I believe it is good because in order to manage well you must lead by example and sometimes leaders must manage as well, but these are both separate roles. Management requires certain skills in order to implement structure and regulate procedures within a company or organization and also requires good communication skills (Rofuth & Pipenbring, 2020). Managers usually come up with plans to achieve a certain goal, find the resources, evaluate results, and make revisions if necessary (Rofuth & Pipenbring, 2020).
A leader is often seen as a motivator, an inspiration, or someone who influences positively on another person. Leaders encourage others, inspire confidence in others, and keep them motivated to complete a task or goal. I believe this is needed in any establishment as well because it provides a great resource for others. This would also be a great thing for someone in management to be as well but because of all the other task they have sometimes they will not be able to fully fulfill this position.
My understanding of these roles would allow me to be great at either role but could also become overwhelming. Having good communication is something I am good at, which is one of the key tips in being a great manager. Having this skill would allow things to run smooth and could help make sure everyone is understanding of what needs to be done and how. I would as do great as a leader because I am a very motivating person and I am usually the person that people come to when they need that extra push.

Post an analysis of the similarities and differences of leadership and management roles as they relate to human services organizations.
There are many similarities and differences among leadership and management. The similarities include motivators, communicators and performers. Motivation can be seen in both leadership and management. Lauffer (2011) state that leaders motivate the organization through the created vision and goals of the company. Managers motivate the employees to perform to achieve the vision and/or goal set by the leaders (Lauffer, 2011). In terms of communication, both areas need strong communication skills to ensure the organization is functioning and moving toward the set goals. Performance is another similarity between leadership and management. Both leadership and management needs to perform at an optimum level to achieve the desired expectations for the organization which needs to be above basic functioning.
According to Lauffer (2011) managers are the operational components in an organization whereas leaders are the visionaries (Lauffer, 2011). Leaders are the “change makers” and “first in motion”. They operate in the goal creation and reasoning behind it. Managers are the “balance keepers” and “operational aligners”. They keep balance between the leaders and employees through communication, coordination and competence. They also oversee the daily operations to ensure the employees are aligned and working/moving toward the shared vision and/or goal of the organization.
Include how your understanding of these roles may affect you as you assume a supervisory position.
As a supervisory practitioner, these roles will be major components on the effectiveness and efficacy of the agency I work for. Understanding the differences between leadership and management will assist me in developing as a supervisory practitioner. It will help to define roles and provide clarity on task levels and improve areas of weaknesses. Being able to motivate my team and colleagues, communicate effectively and excel in performance will showcase my skill sets in leadership and management. Being able to conjoin the two roles will determine the success of my work.
