University of Massachusetts The Art and Science of Social Research Discussion – Assignment Help

Help me study for my Sociology class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

Question 1 of 4

Choose three concepts and arrange them into an order that you feel makes sense. You may use concepts from the examples below.

political economy, institutions, social constructions, deviance, family, race, gender, sexualities, media, ideology and public opinion, self-control/discipline, stigma, social change, social control, conflict, obedience, norms, agency, resistance, knowledge

Ans: race, political economy, social change

Question 2 of 4

After you’ve arranged the three concepts (for example, social constructions, media, deviance), expand those ideas into an hourglass outline using at least three complete sentences.

Ans: African American men are more likely to be sentenced to more time in prison for the same crime as a white man. Systematic racism has created in the political system an Economic barrier that prevent black men from succeeding. There is need for serious social change in our society to eliminate the discrimination against black American men and women.

Question 3 of 4

Now, using the outline you’ve assembled, write a single paragraph. Make sure your ideas flow smoothly from one to the other so that you create a narrative that helps the reader understand the goals of your paper. Remember this is a rough draft so don’t worry about style. What’s important here is to write down your thoughts in a way that is clear and organized.

Question 4 of 4

Returning again to the concepts you assembled previously, explain in one sentence why you think your paper’s topic (and the ideas it engages) are worth caring about. Does your argument have implications for how people behave in socially healthy or unhealthy ways? Are you addressing a gap in existing research? Are you using a sample that has not previously been examined?
