SOC 118 SU Lenin and The Contradictions of Capitalist Democracy Discussion – Assignment Help

I’m studying for my Social Science class and need an explanation.

Here’s the instruction of the question:

This week is beginning our discussion of the Marxist Tradition. Marx and Engels theorize the source of the State as irreconcilable class antagonisms — that is a class struggle between Capitalists and the Working Class. Lenin builds on the basic structure of Marx and Engels’s argument by developing an abstract theory of the Capitalist State and Capitalist Democracy. For Lenin, the Capitalist State and Capitalist Democracy is full of contradictions — on the one hand, Capitalist Democracy is the best shell to contain Capitalism, and on the other hand, it has the potential to unfurl and deepen class struggle — thus ushering in an era of Revolution. For Lenin, the Capitalist State cannot be reformed — it must be smashed. We currently live in an era of deepening class tension and struggle (rising inequality in many forms); State and Society seem locked in perpetual crisis. Read the following articles and think about how Lenin’s theory would explain it? Given our reading of Lenin and the contradictions of Capitalist Democracy, how might Lenin interpret the politics of 2021? (链接到外部网站。) (链接到外部网站。)… (链接到外部网站。)

Here’s the peer’s response you need to make comment :

In The State and Revolution, Lenin constructs a theory of the Capitalist State and the transition to Socialism. In 1917, there was the expectancy of the Western States transitioning into Socialism. Much of the concerns do not lie in the fact that it would happen but when will it happen. The transition should occur during the time of where it is at “deep enough” crisis. This is a similar concern of timing is shared in the NPR podcast. They addressed the 2009 financial crisis of where there is criticism on the Democrats for not doing enough during the time. Timing is significant during this time and in the past. The lack of support from the government in 2009 has greatly affected the public during the recession. In the case of Covid, there are many people who are struggling and are hoping to get governmental support. Therefore, the discussion of the next Covid Relief Bill has become a hot topic. The Bill would increase the minimum wage of $15, stimulus check of $1400, support of the vaccine, and tax credit to help people in poverty. Much of the Democrats are pushing for increased involvement of the federal government in people’s economic lives. Lenin recognized the need for a transitionary period from Capitalism to Communism. He greatly opposes the idea of a Capitalist state and believes that it should wither away as society transforms into a communist society. However, the transitional period is reliant on the state due to the “irreconcilable class antagonism”. The state stands in between the proletariats and the working class and regulates the oppression of one class over another. However, especially during this covid crisis, the relationship between the society and the state is strongly connected and locked together. The State in this case does not oppress the society but is working together to restore the economy. This goes against Lenin’s perception of its relationship of one group oppressing the other and the withering of the state. The state’s involvement in the issues is essential during this time. With Biden in office, the Democrats are making more efforts to proceed with their plans of using the government to help lessen the class tensions and struggles. With governmental assistance and support on the bottom class, it would hopefully shorten the gap of inequality. Again, this goes against Lenin’s beliefs on the Capitalist Democracy of further deepening class struggles. Such relief bills were made to help people who are struggling during this crisis to get back on their feet with stimulus checks. Although there are struggles for the issue of increased wages, this is also an effort on the state to minimize the tensions.
