Oberlin College Interviewing a Management Consultant Paper – Assignment Help

I’m studying for my Psychology class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

PART 1

Your task this week encompasses three major elements.

First, you will need to identify a consultant who you will interview as part of your Signature Assignment.

In the organization to which you belong or an organization for which you previously worked, or one you know of identify well-renowned consultants (does not need to be a real person but establihed in a current real world setting). Ask around. Conduct an Internet search to identify several individuals and gather information about these psychologists’ accomplishments in the field of consultation. Choose one individual from among them. Prepare a 1-page biography of this individual, noting their area of expertise and years of consulting service.

Second, you will draft a letter inviting this person for an interview. The letter will include an explanation of your request, specifically noting you would like the consultant to share a successful experience in consulting as part of your coursework in your doctoral program.

Third, you will prepare an informed consent form for your interviewee to sign before you conduct the interview. A sample of an informed consent form is in one of the resources in this week. (ATTACHED) You will need to “tailor-fit” it to your assignment.

You will compile all three elements into one document to be submitted to your faculty for review and feedback.

Length: 3-4 pages

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.

PART 2

Your task this week is to work on drafting the outline and sample questions for your interview with an established consultant that provides the basis for your Signature Assignment. “established consultant attached”.

The outline requires that you prepare an introductory script for the interview.

You then will need to write at least three questions (the second and third ones may be follow up questions) for each of the following points:

  1. Entry
  2. Diagnosis
  3. Whether or not resistance on the part of the consultee was experienced and how it was handled
  4. Implementation
  5. Evaluation
  6. Disengagement.

Conclude with a one-page summary of why you selected these questions for your interview. Support your summary with at least two references.

As you work on your draft, remember you will not ask the consultant to analyze her or his own experience. Rather, you are asking the individual to share with you their most successful consulting experience. Your Signature Assignment actually will require that you analyze the information you have collected in your interview using criteria based upon what you have learned about the consulting process in this course.

Remember as well that if for example, the consultant mentions during the interview how her or his services were employed, then you will not have to ask questions about the “entry” stage. However, as a follow up question, you could ask whether they wrote up a contract or if the entry stage was largely informal. On the other hand, if the consultant did not mention whether or not an evaluation on the effectiveness of the intervention/s was conducted, then you will have to ask whether or not this was done.

Your professor will provide feedback on your interview introduction and questions that you will want to incorporate into your actual interview.
